Frequently asked questions

Everything streamers and advertisers ask most about AD on Live — booking, payments, approvals, payouts and the OBS overlay.

General

What is AD on Live?

AD on Live is a marketplace for pay-per-minute banner ads on live streams. Streamers add one overlay to their broadcast; advertisers book a time slot from the streamer's booking page and pay with PayPal. The banner appears on the stream with a QR code viewers can scan, and the advertiser is charged only after the streamer approves the ad.

Which streaming platforms does it work with?

It works with any broadcasting software that supports a browser source, such as OBS Studio or Streamlabs Desktop, so the banner becomes part of the video you send out. Each platform sets its own rules on sponsorships and third-party advertising — for example, Twitch's Terms of Service do not allow third-party ad networks to serve ads, and YouTube restricts embedded ads in formats it sells itself. Check the rules of the platform you stream on, treat every slot as a sponsorship you chose and disclose, and reject anything that does not fit.

Do streamers need to install anything?

No. You paste your personal overlay URL into OBS as a Browser Source. An optional desktop app for Windows and macOS (from the Microsoft Store and the Mac App Store) shows the overlay as a transparent window for people who use display or window capture, and sends desktop notifications for new ad requests.

Who operates AD on Live?

AD on Live is built and operated by DevTeam Co., Ltd., a software company based in Incheon, Republic of Korea.

For streamers

Is there a follower or viewer minimum?

No. Anyone can create a channel for free. You set your own price per minute and your banner size, and you can change both at any time.

How much do streamers earn?

You keep 80% of every ad you run; the platform fee is 20%. Founding partners — the first 100 streamers — pay 10% during their first year, so they keep 90%.

How and when do I get paid?

Earnings are paid weekly via PayPal: the cut-off is Friday 23:59 KST and payments are sent by Sunday 23:59 KST. Add the PayPal email you want to be paid to in your dashboard settings. PayPal transfer times can vary.

Can I refuse an ad?

Yes. Every ad waits for your approval unless you turn on auto-approve. When you reject an ad, the advertiser's PayPal authorization is voided, so they are not charged.

What happens if I do not respond to an ad request?

Requests stay pending for 3 days. After that the PayPal authorization is voided automatically and the advertiser is not charged. You get an email for every new request so you can answer in time.

Do I have to be live to approve an ad?

Yes. So advertisers only pay for minutes that are actually on air, approving requires your overlay to be online (the browser source open in OBS) or a live session started in the desktop app. Approved ads start right away and run back to back.

What does the overlay show when no ad is running?

A QR code that opens your booking page, plus your price per minute ("AD Here — $X/min"), so viewers and brands watching can book the next slot. Add ?idle=hide to the overlay URL if you prefer to show nothing between ads.

What size is the banner?

You choose the size in pixels (300×100 by default). Advertisers crop their image to your aspect ratio at checkout and it is resized to your exact size. Set the OBS browser source to the same width and height.

For advertisers

Do I need an account to buy an ad?

No. On the streamer's booking page you enter your email, an optional destination URL and the number of minutes, upload your banner and pay with PayPal. Updates about your ad are sent to that email.

When am I charged?

At checkout PayPal only authorizes (holds) the amount. The payment is captured when the streamer approves the ad. If the streamer rejects it, or does not approve it within 3 days, the authorization is voided and you are not charged.

How long can an ad run?

You can book from 1 to 60 minutes per booking. The price is the streamer's per-minute rate multiplied by the minutes you choose.

What banner files are accepted?

JPG, PNG or GIF images up to 2 MB. You crop the image to the streamer's aspect ratio during checkout, and it is resized to the streamer's exact pixel size. The QR code sits on the left side of the banner, so keep important text and logos away from that area.

What results can I measure?

The QR code on your banner goes through a short tracking link that counts scans and clicks before sending people to your URL, and you receive a summary by email when the ad ends. Add UTM parameters to your URL to see visits and conversions in your own analytics. AD on Live does not report impressions or viewer counts.

What can I advertise?

Lawful products and services that suit the streamer's audience and the platform's rules. Streamers review every ad and can reject anything that does not fit their channel. See the Terms for the full rules.

How do I find streamers?

Scan the QR code shown on an AD on Live streamer's broadcast, use a booking link a creator shares with you, or browse the channels directory. Each booking page shows the price per minute, the banner size and whether the streamer is on air.

Payments & fees

How much does AD on Live cost?

Advertisers pay only the streamer's price per minute times the minutes booked — no extra platform charge at checkout. Streamers pay a 20% platform fee out of each ad (10% for founding partners in their first year). There are no monthly or setup fees.

Which payment methods are accepted?

Payments are processed by PayPal. Depending on your country, PayPal checkout also lets you pay by debit or credit card without a PayPal account.

Which currency are prices in?

All prices, payments and payouts are in US dollars (USD).

Setup & troubleshooting

How do I add the overlay to OBS Studio?

In OBS, click + under Sources, choose Browser, paste the overlay URL from your dashboard and set the width and height to your banner size. Position it where it does not cover important gameplay or your camera.

The overlay is blank in OBS. What should I check?

Make sure the URL is complete, the source is visible in the current scene and its size matches your banner size. If you added ?idle=hide, the overlay is intentionally empty until an ad runs. Right-click the source and choose Refresh to reload it.

Can viewers on phones scan the QR code?

The QR code works best for viewers watching on a computer or TV with a phone in hand. Many streamers also add their booking link to chat commands or channel panels for mobile viewers.

Is the overlay URL secret?

Treat it like a stream key: anyone with the URL can display your overlay. If it leaks, regenerate it from your dashboard and update the browser source in OBS.
